In astrology, when a planet appears to move backward in the sky, it is called Retrograde Motion (Vakra Gati). While planets don't actually move backward, this appearance gives them extraordinary strength known as Cheshta Bala.

Retrograde Status Analysis and Results
Benefics (Retrograde) When Jupiter, Venus, or Mercury go retrograde, their ability to provide results is significantly amplified. They become Persistent in bestowing favors.
Malefics (Retrograde) When Saturn or Mars go retrograde, they become highly unpredictable. A retrograde Saturn gives extreme stubbornness, while a retrograde Mars results in uncontrollable aggression.
Karmic Principle Retrograde planets strongly signify Past Life Karma. It indicates tasks left unfinished in previous births that the soul has returned to complete in this life. Matters related to that planet often occur repetitively in life.
