Counting from your birth star (Janma Nakshatra) to the current star of a planet determines its Tara Bala:

1, 10, 19	Janma Tara	Body, Health, and Self (Average).
2, 11, 20	Sampat Tara	Wealth and Prosperity (Very Good).
3, 12, 21	Vipat Tara	Accidents and Obstacles (Bad).
4, 13, 22	Kshema Tara	Safety and Comfort (Good).
5, 14, 23	Pratyak Tara	Enmity and Hurdles (Bad).
6, 15, 24	Sadhana Tara	Achievement and Success (Very Good).
7, 16, 25	Naidhana Tara	Fear of Death and Hardships (Worst).
8, 17, 26	Mitra Tara	Friendship and Support (Good).
9, 18, 27	Parama Mitra Tara	Great Success and Gains (Excellent).

Practical Example: Suppose your birth star is "Ashwini". If Jupiter is transiting in "Rohini" (the 4th star - Kshema Tara), Jupiter will grant you safety and comforts. If Jupiter is in "Ashlesha" (the 9th star - Parama Mitra), it will grant exceptional gains.
