Frequently Asked Questions about this Ephemeris
An ephemeris is a table that provides the calculated positions (longitudes) of celestial objects like the Sun, Moon, and planets at regular intervals. Astrologers rely on this data to cast accurate horoscopes for a specific date and time, forming the foundation of any astrological reading.
Vedic (or Sidereal) astrology is based on the positions of planets against the fixed background of constellations. The Ayanamsha is a correction applied to account for the slow wobble of the Earth's axis (precession). The Lahiri Ayanamsha is the most widely accepted standard in Vedic astrology, officially adopted by the Government of India. Using it ensures our calculations are accurate according to traditional Sidereal principles.
From our viewpoint on Earth, planets sometimes appear to move backward in the sky. This is called retrograde motion. In our ephemeris, these planets are marked in bold. Astrologically, a retrograde planet's energy is often considered more internalized, intense, or reflective, bringing a different quality to its influence in a horoscope.
