What is Bhargava Panchanga (Bhrigu Panchanga)?

Bhargava Panchanga, also known as Shukra Nadi Panchanga, is a unique Vedic system for determining auspicious and inauspicious times. Unlike a standard panchang, it does not use Tithi, Nakshatra, or Rahu Kalam. Instead, it divides the 24-hour day into 60 periods of 24 minutes each, called 'Shukra Ghadiyas', starting from the local sunrise.

How does the Bhargava system work?

The system is entirely dependent on the local sunrise time. From sunrise, the day is divided into 60 equal 'Shukra Ghadiyas' of 24 minutes. Each Ghadiya has a predefined result (e.g., auspicious, inauspicious, good for travel, etc.). By knowing the current Ghadiya, one can instantly find a suitable time for an activity without complex calculations.

How is this different from a regular Panchang?

A regular panchang is based on the five limbs (Pancha-anga): Tithi, Vara, Nakshatra, Yoga, and Karana, which are based on the Moon's and Sun's positions. Bhargava Panchanga ignores these and provides a much simpler, fixed system of 24-minute time slots with pre-defined results that cycle throughout the day, starting from sunrise.
