Rashi and Nakshatra Star Matching

Calculate Ashtakoota from known Rashi and Nakshatra

Select the Moon sign, birth Nakshatra and Pada of both people to calculate the eight Ashtakoota factors and their maximum total of 36 points.

This is a limited star-matching service. It does not calculate Lagna, houses, Mangal Dosha, Dashas or a complete two-chart analysis.

Confirm the birth star

Use a birth chart or Rashi–Nakshatra calculator when the Nakshatra or Pada is uncertain.

Review all eight factors

Do not rely only on the total. Read Nadi, Bhakoot, Gana, Graha Maitri and the remaining Kootas separately.

Keep real compatibility first

Consent, communication, values, health, safety, finances and family expectations matter more than a score.

Select both Rashis, Nakshatras and Padas

A name-based Rashi association is approximate and does not calculate the astronomical Moon position at birth.

The eight Ashtakoota factors

These are traditional Moon-sign and Nakshatra classifications, not medical, genetic, psychological or scientific tests.

1

Varna

A traditional Moon-sign classification. It should not be used to rank people, caste, dignity or social worth.

2

Vashya

A symbolic comparison of the Vashya groups assigned to the two Moon signs.

3

Tara

Compares the numerical relationship between the two birth Nakshatras in the traditional Tara system.

4

Yoni

Uses symbolic animal categories assigned to Nakshatras. It is not a medical, sexual-health or biological compatibility test.

5

Graha Maitri

Compares the traditional relationship between the rulers of the two Moon signs.

6

Gana

Compares Deva, Manushya and Rakshasa groups. These are symbolic categories, not character diagnoses.

7

Bhakoot

Uses the relative distance between the Moon signs. It does not prove future conflict, separation or financial instability.

8

Nadi

Compares Adi, Madhya and Antya Nadi. It is not a genetic, fertility or health screening test.

About the 18-point reference: It is a broad traditional guideline, not a compulsory pass/fail rule. A higher score does not guarantee success and a lower score does not prove incompatibility.

How to read the result

Total score

The total summarizes eight categories. Read the distribution instead of treating the number as a verdict.

Nadi and Bhakoot

Do not convert these conditions into predictions of illness, childlessness, financial loss or separation.

Gana and Yoni

These symbolic classifications should not be used to shame, label or judge either person.

Traditional exceptions

An exception changes the weight assigned within the rule set. It does not guarantee a compatible marriage.

Responsible use in a marriage decision

Do not pressure or reject a person solely because of Nadi, Bhakoot, Gana, Yoni or a low score. Marriage requires the free and informed consent of both adults. Discuss communication, health, finances, work, residence, family expectations, children, beliefs, safety and legal rights directly.

Frequently asked questions

What does this Star Match calculate?

It calculates the eight Ashtakoota factors from the selected Rashi, Nakshatra and Pada of both people. It does not create or compare full birth charts.

What are the eight Kootas?

They are Varna, Vashya, Tara, Yoni, Graha Maitri, Gana, Bhakoot and Nadi, with maximum points of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.

Is 18 out of 36 a mandatory pass mark?

No. Many traditions use 18 as a broad reference, but it is not a legal, medical or scientifically validated pass mark.

Does a high score guarantee a successful marriage?

No. Consent, communication, emotional safety, values, health, finances and daily behaviour matter more than an astrological score.

Does Nadi Dosha show genetic incompatibility?

No. Nadi is a traditional Nakshatra classification. It does not test DNA, hereditary disease, fertility or pregnancy outcome.

Does Bhakoot Dosha predict conflict or financial loss?

No certain event can be concluded from Bhakoot alone. It is one symbolic Moon-sign relationship in the Ashtakoota system.

Does Gana Dosha prove personality incompatibility?

No. Gana is a symbolic temperament category, not a psychological assessment or character judgment.

Does this tool calculate Mangal Dosha?

No. Mangal Dosha requires birth time, birthplace, Lagna and house positions. Use the full matching or Mangal Dosha report.

What does Dosha cancellation mean?

A traditional exception may reduce the weight assigned within the implemented rule set. It does not guarantee compatibility.

What if the Nakshatra or Pada is unknown?

Use the birth date, local time and birthplace to calculate them. A name-based association is approximate.

Is Star Matching enough to decide a marriage?

No. It is a limited Rashi–Nakshatra comparison and cannot replace the informed consent and real-world assessment of the two adults.
