Daily ChowGhatis (Choghadiya/Chowghadiya) in Day-to-Day Work
Know about Auspicious Choghadiya and Unfavorable Choghadiya Periods
ChowGhati or Choghadiya (चौघड़िया in Hindi, గౌరీపంచాంగము in Telugu ) refers to a traditional Vedic time-keeping system used to divide the day into favorable and unfavorable periods, commonly followed in Hindu culture. The term "Choghadiya" is derived from "Chau" (four) and "Ghadi" (a time unit of approximately 24 minutes), making each ChowGhati a period of approximately 96 minutes. These periods are calculated based on sunrise and sunset and change daily according to the length of the day and night.
In daily life, ChowGhati plays a crucial role in determining auspicious and inauspicious times for starting new activities, traveling, or making important decisions. There are different types of ChowGhatias categorized as either favorable or unfavorable based on the planetary lord ruling that particular period.
