If you are unable to perform Shraddha on the specific tithi of an ancestor's death, the ritual can be performed on the next Ashtami (8th lunar day), Dwadashi (12th lunar day), Chaturdashi (14th lunar day), or Amavasya (New Moon day). However, if there is a birth or death in the family or among close relatives (a period of ritual impurity known as sutak), Shraddha should not be performed for 11 days.
