In astrology, Mars (Kuja) is the Commander (Senadhipati). He signifies energy, courage, land, blood, siblings, and technical skills. Although Mars is a natural malefic, he provides the most magnificent Raja Yogas for certain Ascendants.
In this lesson, let's examine the results Mars provides for the 12 Ascendants, especially when he transforms into a Yogakaraka.
| Ascendant | Lordship | Nature | Analysis & Results |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aries | 1st, 8th Lord | Benefic | Lagna lord is always benefic. The blemish of 8th lordship does not apply to the Lagna lord. Favorable Positions: 1 (Own sign), 5, 9, 10 (Digbala + Exalted). Results: Extraordinary health, courage, success in police/military. |
| Taurus | 7th, 12th Lord | Malefic | Enemy to Lagna lord Venus. 7th house is Maraka, 12th is Vyaya. Favorable Positions: 7, 12 (Vipareeta Raja Yoga). Results: Conflicts in marital life, high expenses, health of spouse may suffer. |
| Gemini | 6th, 11th Lord | Severe Malefic | Enemy to Lagna lord Mercury. Although 6 and 11 are Upachaya houses, malefic results predominate. Favorable Positions: 6, 11 (Own sign). Results: Debts, enemies, accidents. But in 11th, provides immense profits. |
| Cancer | 5th, 10th Lord | Yogakaraka | Lord of a Kendra (10) and a Trine (5). Mars is the best planet for Cancer Ascendant. Favorable Positions: 1 (Neecha Bhanga required), 2, 5, 9, 10. Results: Political power, high positions, wealth through real estate. |
| Leo | 4th, 9th Lord | Yogakaraka | Friend to Lagna lord Sun. Lord of houses of comfort (4) and fortune (9). Favorable Positions: 1, 4, 5, 9, 10. Results: Own home, vehicles, fortune, gains through father. |
| Virgo | 3rd, 8th Lord | Severe Malefic | Enemy to Lagna lord Mercury. 3 and 8 are highly negative houses. Favorable Positions: 3, 6, 8 (Vipareeta Raja Yoga). Results: Conflicts with siblings, accidents, surgical interventions. |
| Libra | 2nd, 7th Lord | Maraka | Lord of two Maraka houses (2, 7). Enemy to Lagna lord. Favorable Positions: 2, 7 (if in own signs). Results: Financial issues, family disputes, problems in marital life. |
| Scorpio | 1st, 6th Lord | Benefic | As Lagna lord, 6th house blemish is reduced. Gives health and victory over enemies. Favorable Positions: 1, 3 (Exalted), 6, 10. Results: Success in competitions, extreme courage, police/surgeon professions. |
| Sagittarius | 5th, 12th Lord | Benefic | Friend to Lagna lord Jupiter. Lord of the 5th Trine, hence benefic. Favorable Positions: 1, 5, 9, 10. Results: Intelligent children, higher education, foreign travel. |
| Capricorn | 4th, 11th Lord | Neutral/Benefic | Mars is exalted here. 4th Kendra is good but 11th is a malefic house. Favorable Positions: 1 (Exalted), 4, 10, 11. Results: Immense property (Real Estate), profits. But mother's health may suffer. |
| Aquarius | 3rd, 10th Lord | Mixed | 3rd is a house of struggle, 10th is a Kendra. Gives mixed results. Favorable Positions: 3, 10 (Digbala), 11. Results: Rises in profession through self-effort. Issues with siblings possible. |
