Astrology Lessons - Birth Chart and Nakshatra Analysis

Vedic Astrology is a profound tool that deciphers the mysteries behind the ups and downs, joys, and sorrows of human life. It is natural for every person to feel a sense of curiosity or concern regarding their future. Astrology serves as a guide, providing direction on what the coming times hold and offering solutions to potential challenges.

What is a Horoscope or Janma Kundali?

A Horoscope Chart (Map of Heavens) is an astronomical map showing which signs and Nakshatra quarters (Padas) the nine planets were occupying at the moment of your birth. Also known as a Janma Kundali, it reflects the planetary influences that shape an individual's life journey.

Important Note: In horoscope calculation, the Birth Time and Birth Place are extremely critical. Even a difference of a few minutes can change the planetary positions and alter the resulting analysis.

How to Determine your Janma Rashi and Nakshatra?

In basic astrology, the first things to identify are your Janma Nakshatra and Janma Rashi. The Nakshatra the Moon is transiting at the time of your birth is your Janma Nakshatra. The zodiac sign that encompasses that Nakshatra is your Janma Rashi (Moon Sign).

Calculation Method using Panchang (Example):

You must refer to a Drik Siddhanta Panchang for your birth date. For example, let's assume a child was born on March 26, 2004, at 2:00 PM:

  • According to that day's Panchang, Krittika Nakshatra lasted until 06:58 AM.
  • After 06:58 AM, Rohini Nakshatra began.
  • Since the child was born at 2:00 PM, Rohini Nakshatra was in effect at the time of birth.
  • Rohini Nakshatra belongs to Vrishabha Rashi (Taurus). Therefore, the child's Rashi is Vrishabha and Nakshatra is Rohini.

Do not worry if you don't have old physical Panchangs. You can find accurate details for any year or date for free on the Panchang page of our website, OnlineJyotish.com.
