Our courage, adventure, and communication skills originate from this house. In astrology, this is an Upachaya Sthana (Growth House), so even malefic planets here can yield good results.

The Third House governs many subtle matters:

1. Personal Traits Courage, adventure, prowess, anger, decision-making power, mental strength, confusion, ego, and adherence to one's duty.

  • Danger/Death to Father: The 9th house is the father's house. The 3rd house is the 7th (Maraka) from it (9+7-1 = 3). Thus, the 3rd house is a maraka house for the father.
  • Loss/Expenditure to Mother: The 4th house is the mother's house. The 3rd house is the 12th (Expenditure) from it. This indicates the mother's health or her expenses.
  • Friends of Children: Being the 11th house from the 5th house, it signifies children's friends.
  • Father-in-law: This is the 9th house (father) from the 7th house (spouse). Thus, the 3rd house represents the father-in-law.
