Vastu Glossary: Understanding Directions
To understand the result better, know these terms used in Vastu Shastra.
“God’s Corner”. Associated with spiritual positivity and clarity.
“Fire Corner”. Associated with cooking, heat, and household energy.
“Earth Corner”. Ideal for stability, storage, and heavy arrangements.
The “Heart” of the home. Should be kept as open, bright, and clean as possible.
Vastu Checklist: 5 Golden Rules
Apart from directions, check these general rules.
1. Plot Shape
- ✅ Square/Rectangle: Excellent.
- ✅ Shermukhi (Lion Face): Good for business (wide front).
- ✅ Gaumukhi (Cow Face): Good for residence (narrow front).
- ❌ Triangle: Avoid.
2. Soil Test
- ✅ White/Yellow: Excellent.
- ✅ Sweet Smell: Good.
- ❌ Black Soil: Avoid.
3. Surroundings
- ❌ Temple Shadow: Avoid falling on house.
- ❌ Facing Cemetery: Avoid.
- ❌ Electric Pole: Avoid Door Hit (Dwar Vedha).
4. Floor Levels
- ✅ South-West High: Must be the highest point.
- ✅ North-East Low: Must be the lowest point for water flow.
- ❌ Center Depression: A pit in the center (Brahmasthan) harms family health.
5. History & Owner
- ✅ Prosperous Seller: Buying from a happy/growing owner is considered positive.
- ❌ Distress Sale: Avoid buying from someone bankrupt or going through divorce.
- ❌ Haunted Feel: Trust your intuition or observe pet behavior.
