Trayiimayaaya trigunaat-ma dhaarinee virañchi naaraayana shankaraat-man || 1 ||
Meaning: Salutations to the Sun, the only eye of the universe, the cause of the birth, sustenance, and destruction of the world. He is the essence of the Vedas, the holder of the three Gunas, and the soul of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva.
Yan-mandalam diiptikaram vishaalam ratnaprabham tiivram-anaadi ruupam |
Daaridrya duhkha-kshaya-kaaranam cha punaatu maam tat-savitur-varenyam || 2 ||
Meaning: May that adorable orb of the Sun—which is vast, radiant like a gem, intense, and without beginning—purify me. It is the cause of the destruction of poverty and grief.
Yan-mandalam jñana ghanam tvagamyam trailokya puujyam trigunaat-ma ruupam |
Samasta tejo-maya divya-ruupam punaatu maam tat-savitur-varenyam || 4 ||

Prakaashitam yeena bhuur-bhuvah svah punaatu maam tat-savitur-varenyam || 6 ||
Meaning: May that adorable orb of the Sun—which is capable of destroying diseases, sung about in the Rig, Yajur, and Sama Vedas, and which illuminates the Earth, Atmosphere, and Heavens—purify me.
