New to Vedic astrology?

Vedic astrology, also called Jyotish, is an Indian tradition of interpreting a birth chart from the date, local time and place of birth. It usually uses the sidereal zodiac, whose reference differs from the tropical zodiac common in Western astrology. Your Vedic Moon sign may therefore differ from the Sun sign you know from your birthday.

Start with a birth chart and find the Moon sign (Rashi). The ascendant (Lagna) is the sign rising at birth. A Nakshatra is one of 27 divisions of the zodiac; a Dasha is a traditional planetary period. The monthly and annual articles use the Moon sign and offer general interpretations, not a personal prediction.

Daily, monthly and yearly forecasts

These forecasts offer broad guidance based on your Moon sign or Sun sign. While helpful for general themes, they complement rather than replace your personal birth chart.

How to interpret calculated results

Astronomical calculation

Planetary positions can be calculated from an ephemeris. Correct date, local time, coordinates and timezone remain essential.

Astrological interpretation

Predictions are traditional interpretations of calculated positions. Different schools can assign different weight to the same chart factors.

Method settings

Ayanamsha, node type, house system, geocentric or topocentric setting and regional calendar rules can change results.

Use the whole context

Do not judge a person or decision from one planet, Yoga, Dosha, Koota, transit or Dasha period alone.

Responsible use: Traditional astrology may be used for reflection and cultural practice. It should not replace medical, legal, financial, safety, employment or mental-health advice.

Common questions

What can I use when the exact birth time is unknown?

Daily horoscope, location-based Panchanga and general calendars do not require a birth time. Prashna uses the question time or a selected number. Name-based and Nadi-style tools may offer limited indications, but Lagna, houses, Vargas and time-sensitive interpretation remain uncertain without a reliable birth time.

What does Swiss Ephemeris contribute to these tools?

Swiss Ephemeris can be used to calculate astronomical positions such as planetary longitudes. The astrological meaning assigned to those positions is a separate traditional interpretation and can vary by method.

What is the difference between Vedic Horoscope, KP and Nadi-style reports?

A Vedic Horoscope uses the birth chart, houses, Vargas and Dashas. KP gives special importance to cusps, star lords, sub-lords and significators. The Nadi-style report on this site applies selected planetary-combination rules and is not a palm-leaf manuscript reading.

Why do birth location and timezone matter?

Location and timezone are required to convert local clock time correctly and calculate the Ascendant, houses, sunrise, sunset and other location-sensitive values. Historical daylight-saving errors can change a chart.

Why can two astrology programs show different results?

Differences can arise from Ayanamsha, mean or true lunar nodes, house system, coordinates, timezone handling, daylight saving, ephemeris settings, rounding and interpretive rules.

Does a high Guna score guarantee a successful marriage?

No. Guna Milan and other compatibility systems provide traditional indicators. Consent, communication, health, values, finances, family expectations and real circumstances are more important for a marriage decision.

Do Yogas, Doshas or remedies guarantee an outcome?

No. A Yoga or Dosha should be read in the context of the whole chart. Mantras, worship and charity are religious or cultural practices and do not guarantee medical, legal, financial or personal outcomes.

How should I handle birth details and personal data?

Birth data is personal information. Review the site privacy policy, avoid entering another person’s details without permission and do not assume that an automated chart replaces confidential professional advice.
