Santhosh Kumar Sharma

"With over 26 years of dedicated practice in Vedic astrology, my core mission through OnlineJyotish is simple: to make authentic, traditional Jyotish calculations accessible to everyone, entirely free of charge.
My journey began long before modern tools were readily available. When I was first learning astrology, I had to cast every horoscope manually—a deeply laborious and time-consuming process. Even as I transitioned into professional practice around the year 2000, I faced a familiar frustration. Despite having a computer, there was a glaring lack of reliable software or websites capable of generating accurate Vedic charts.
I created this platform to change that. By providing precise, instantly accessible horoscopes to both seasoned astrologers and the general public, my goal is to ensure that no one else has to struggle with the technical hurdles I once faced. This allows you to bypass the tedious calculations and focus purely on the profound wisdom and guidance that astrology offers."

An introduction to KP Astrology (Krishnamurti Paddhati)

Developed by Prof. K.S. Krishnamurti, KP Astrology is a branch of astrology that refines prediction methods through cusp-based analysis and Sub-Lord interpretation.

The core idea: the Nakshatra Sub-Lord

While traditional Vedic astrology often emphasizes the planet and the Nakshatra it occupies, KP goes further by dividing each Nakshatra into 9 subdivisions (“subs”) according to the Vimshottari Dasha scheme. The Sub-Lord is then used as an important deciding factor in interpretation.

Key concepts in KP prediction

1. Cuspal analysis
KP pays close attention to each house cusp and its Sub-Lord to judge house matters in greater detail.
2. Planetary significators
A planet is studied through the houses it occupies and signifies at sign and star levels, helping astrologers build a structured view of results.
3. Ruling Planets (RP)
Planets connected with the Ascendant, Moon, and weekday at the moment of judgment are used in KP practice for verification and timing.

Frequently Asked Questions

KP Astrology is a system of astrological interpretation developed by Prof. K.S. Krishnamurti. It is especially known for its Sub-Lord Theory, where each Nakshatra is further divided into subdivisions called subs for more detailed analysis.

Both use the same zodiac and planets, but KP gives more emphasis to the Star Lord and Sub Lord. It also commonly uses the Placidus house system for cusp division.

The Sub Lord is an important factor in KP Astrology. Each Nakshatra is divided into 9 unequal parts according to the Vimshottari Dasha sequence. KP astrologers often use the Sub Lord to judge how a result may manifest.

Ruling Planets (RP) are used in KP practice to help with chart verification and timing judgment. They are usually derived from the Ascendant sign/star, Moon sign/star, and weekday at the moment of judgment.

KP commonly uses the Placidus House System, where house sizes can vary by latitude. Because of this, a planet may appear in a different house compared with some standard Vedic chart formats.
Note: Festival and eclipse dates on this website are calculated using Swiss Ephemeris and Drik Siddhanta. Timings shown are adjusted for your selected city's latitude and longitude, with sunrise, sunset, moonrise, and moonset computed using topocentric coordinates. Minor differences may still occur due to regional traditions or local panchangam variations. When in doubt, please verify with your local panchangam or family priest.
