How does this tool work?

In Vedic astrology, each Nakshatra is divided into four parts called 'Pada' or 'Charan'. Each Pada is associated with a specific sound or letter. Your popular name's starting letter corresponds to one of these Padas, which in turn tells us your Nakshatra and its associated Rashi (Moon Sign).

What about names with combined letters (e.g., Krishna, Drona)?

For names starting with a conjunct letter, use the combined sound. For "Krishna," you would search for "Kr." The table shows this falls under the Mrigashira Nakshatra and Mithuna Rashi. For "Drona," searching "Dr" places you in Swati Nakshatra and Tula Rashi.

Should I use my first name or surname?

Always use your first name (your given or popular name) for this method. Your surname or family name is not considered for determining your Rashi by name.
