As the earth precesses every year the imaginary point of begining of zoadic also slides by say roughly 50 seconds a year. This is measured with reference to some fix star. This precession of the equinoxes gives a birth to ayanamsha. It is the difference between the tropical zodiac and the nirayana zodiac.
